We had a long heart to heart with Jonah last night to discuss how he is a big boy and doesn't need to come into Mommy and Daddy's room in the middle of the night. I think when Carson wakes up in the middle of the night to potty it wakes Jonah up also. We talked to Carson about being a big brother and how he needed to try and keep Jonah in his bed and assure him that he was safe there.
Well at about 2AM I wake up to two little boys running into my room (Carson is chasing Jonah). Carson says, "Mom I told him not to be scared but he had to come to your room! I told him to be a big boy and stay!" Miraculously Rusty slept through this entire fiasco (or so he claims). So here I am, 8 months pregnant with a newly sprained ankle (read yesterday's blog) and I'm hobbling down the hall to escort them back to their room. Jonah's upset so I'm trying to calm him on the bottom bunk and Carson asks, "Mom - how can God be in your heart and in Heaven to?" As much as I wanted to marvel at this sweet, innocent question, I was exhausted. I said, "Sweety God is everywhere. He's watching you right now try to be a good big brother to Jonah by keeping him in his big boy bed. Let's talk more in the morning." I could tell his little mind was spinning. I got Jonah to bed and made a stop in their restroom. The door opens and there is Carson. "Mom-isn't it weird that God made you go to the bathroom right when I have to go to the bathroom?!" I smiled at him with sleepy, closed eyes. It's pushing 2:45 now. "Yes sweety, God works in mysterious ways."
Needless to say Carson was exhausted the next morning due to all of the activity throughout the night. I love his sweet questions and his effort in becoming the BEST big brother!
