Aunt Mimi and Uncle Ian Come to Visit

Aunt Mimi and Uncle Ian came to meet Mr. Creed this weekend and spend some time with the boys. The boys LOVE having them here - no one can quite match Uncle Ian's energy. The boys love this about him. Here are some pics...

Creed's First Bath

Mimi was here to give the traditional first bath to baby #3. Creed wasn't too keen on bathing - but once he was cuddled up in Mimi's arms he was as happy as a lamb. :)

Days in the Hospital

Boy what a blur! After a scary surgery and a blurry recovery (according to Rusty I was telling some pretty funny stories while under anesthesia) we are headed home. Here are some pics of visitors in the hospital. They included Mimi, Paw, Granny, Ken, Aunt T and, of course, Creed's big brothers. They love him already.

Carson is all business. He came to visit first (without Jonah) and held Creed, looking down at him with a pretty serious face. After a while Creed started to cry. Carson said "Mom is he hungry?" I responded yes. He said, "OK, here you go Mom make some milk" God bless his little sweet heart. He is my serious one.

Jonah on the other hand is very gentle with Creed and constantly tells him "It's 'Otay' Creed, Jonah's here, it's 'Otay'". It just melts my heart. God has blessed us with a gentle-hearted Jonah. He wants to hold Creed all of the time.

Creed Ryder McClendon

What a day!! Creed was born at 4:16 on 8/25/08 and weighed in at 7 lbs 12 ozs. He was 19.25" long. Mom and baby are doing good and are in full recovery (dad is ok too).

The details: Our delivery got pushed back to 3:30, and in the end, this ended up being a good thing. The doctor told me that from first incision to the time Creed is born typically takes about 7 mins. So the doctors came and got me and off I went, dressed in scrubs, cameras in tow. About 30 mins into the delivery, there was still no baby. There were some minor complications with the c-section at first and then our beautiful baby boy was born. Creed had some lung issues in that he couldnt get all the junk out of his chest, so Creed and I went to the nursery so the nurses could monitor him. About 25 mins later, a nurse came in and said, "Dad, you need to come back to the O.R." OK, now I am starting to freak a little. Ginger was having some other complications and almost had to have a hysterectomy, but luckily it all worked out in the end, and Mom is now doing awesome. She is still being watched very closely by the docs and she's not out of the woods yet, but doing much better. Its almost noon on Tuesday and mom and baby are both doing well.

Thank you for all of the support and prayers.

Carson's First Day of Preschool

Before we left for the hospital today, we dropped Carson off at his first day of preschool. He was so excited...couldn't wait to play on the playground (go figure). Here he is in front of the school. Yes, I was "that Mom" that made him pose for a picture on the way in to school. We wondered how he would handle the goodbye portion of the morning - but he was fine!

He headed straight to the lego table and started playing with some other boys. What a big boy!

Like Father Like Son

Jonah and I ran errands this afternoon while Rusty and Carson mowed the grass. We set up a playlist for Carson and Jonah my ipod with songs from Radio Disney (he loves "No Air", "Shake It", anything Jonas Brothers from Radio Disney, and dance songs like "Tutti Frutti"). Anyway, I couldn't resist taking a picture...

Welcome William Barrett Thornhill

Many of you know that Rusty's cousin (Thor) and his wife Alissa were due on the same day as Creed. Well...baby William beat us to the punch! William Barrett Thornhill was born August 21, 2008 and weighed in at 7 lb. 2 oz. - 19 inches long. Oh I can already see the fun times ahead. Watch out at next year's annual easter egg hunt Thornhills! :) We love you guys...

Not My Body

Well the good news is that the Orthopedic doctor allowed me to remove my Magic Boot and replaced it with a brace that I get to wear for the next 6 weeks. I am so thankful that it fits inside a tennis shoe, so I can start walking again!

The not-so-good news: I know that this baby is Heaven sent, I just feel like his vessel (i.e. my body) belongs to someone else at this point. I'm at that not so glamorous stage of pregnancy...one week and counting! :) I plan on taking the boys on a walk this afternoon (weather permitting).

BFF

While driving home from the doctor's office (Jonah has yet another unidentified rash), we heard the phrase BFF on Radio Disney. Carson asked what BFF meant. I explained it to him and asked the boys who their BFF was. Here are their responses:

Carson: My brudder (my brother)
Jonah: Brian Jessie (that would be my Cabbage Patch doll that he's attached to)

Funny boys!

This Morning

I woke up to find Carson on the bottom bunk with his arm around Jonah. They looked so sweet sleeping together. Carson has gotten so big lately...for example, he woke up in the middle of the night last night because he had an accident in his bed. He managed to climb down from the top bunk, put his wet pj bottoms and undies in the dirty clothes, get clean undies and pjs to put on and transfer his pillow to the bottom bunk all by himself. I'm torn here, part of me is thankful that he's such an independent little boy (which will help when the baby comes) and part of me is outright sad over him not needing his Mommy anymore. :(

AARRRGGGHHH

Carson spent the night with his friend Lane tonight. While I was busy folding clothes, Jonah was having a blast in the dress up clothes. Here's pirate Jonah, in all his glory...

Getting Ready for Baby

The boys have handled the news differently. Carson is very gentle around me and always kisses my belly. Jonah, on the other hand, is tough, but he has taken a liking to Brian Jessie, my Cabage Patch Kid from 1984ish. He rocks him, puts him in the swing, etc. Carson asks all the time if baby Creed is hurting me in my tummy and I assure him that he's not! Such sweet little boys...

Mycah McClendon Comes to Visit!

We enjoyed having Rusty's cousin (Cory) and his wife Michelle and daughter Mycah over for a visit. Jonah is just 11 days older than Mycah, so they had a blast together. We played outside on the slip and slide and on the swingset. She is just the sweetest little girl and boy can she keep up with my boys...which makes me love her even more! Next time she comes over I want to paint her toenails or do something "girly". I have to get my girl time in when I can now... :)

Awaiting the Big Day!

As we await the arrival of baby Creed, we are reminded by God to be p-a-t-i-e-n-t. This is a difficult lesson for Ginger. She is so anxious to complete the McClendon Clan!

Circus!

The boys enjoyed their first visit to the circus (compliments of Rusty and Mimi). We got the suite at the American Airlines center and enjoyed watching the boys as they reacted to the sites. We were accompanied by Mimi (my mom) and Pops (my stepdad Brian).

Carson's favorite part of the circus: acrobats and the man and woman shooting out of the canon. Jonah's favorite: the zebras (and I would say he loved the cotton candy also). Rusty and I love making memories like these...
